How do i prepare for a tattoo appointment ?

To make sure that your skin is in the best condition to be tattooed, you can always start with moisturizing the area 10 days prior to your appointment. Some areas on the body tend to be dryer than other areas. The elbow for example can be very dry in the winter. With some moisturizing before the appointment it will be easier for the artist to tattoo the area. Just make sure to leave you skin in its natural state the day of the tattoo. So no moisturizer or cremes on the day itself.

Make sure you are well rested and have eaten enough before you come to your appointment. A good night’s rest and a descent breakfast is good base to get tattooed, especially if you have a long session. You can always bring some food, snacks and drinks with you to get you through the session. We recommend snacks and drinks with sugar, just to fuel your body a little bit extra during the appointment.

Can i bring someone with me to my appointment ?

We prefer you come alone to your tattoo appointment.

But we don't mind if there is 1 extra person, especially if it's your first tattoo.

Do you tattoo with ashes of deceased ?

Unfortunately we don't. There are too many other unknown things in the ashes that makes the risk of having an infection on your tattoo really big. Your body will see this as a strange substance and will try to push this back out in the form of an infection.

Do you tattoo under the age of 18 ?

No we don't, even if you have permission from your parents. Our minimum age is still 18.

Can you cover a scar with a tattoo?

Yes you can. A scar has to be healed for a year or longer for it to be covered.

Always consult with your artist first what the possibilities are.

Can I get a tattoo if I am on certain medication ?

If you are taking antibiotics or other medication to treat something, always consult with your doctor if it's safe for tattooing or not.

Do you do piercings or laser removal

We are a studio based on tattoos only. For these matters you can search places nearby.

Aftercare

The healing process takes around 4-6 weeks, depending on the style of tattoo and what your artist recommends

Always wash your hands before you touch your tattoo. Use a mild unscented soap to wash your tattoo twice a day to remove excess blood, ink and bacteria.

Pat your tattoo dry with a non fuzzy paper, f.e. kitchen paper, or let it air dry.

The first 3 days after getting your new tattoo are very simple. You wash your tattoo twice a day to prevent infection by keeping it clean. Additionally you will let it dry out completely. We advise this routine so your 'wound' closes as fast as possible. Once your tattoo is closed, the chances of getting an infection are a lot smaller.
After these 3 days you can start using your cream as described in the next step.

Put cream on your tattoo with whatever your artist recommends. Do this 3-4 times a day. Only apply a really thin layer of cream. Your tattoo has to be able to "breath" in order to heal properly. If you want to put on cream, always make sure it has dried out completely. If it's still a little greasy it is to soon to re-apply the creme.

IMPORTANT: Too much creme will slow down your healing process. Always make sure to wash it before applying new cream.

After a few days your tattoo will start to feel crusty and little flakes are going to be coming of. During the healing proces there will be a fase where it is itchy. It's really important that you do not pull the flakes off or start scratching on your tattoo. If you do, you can remove ink from your tattoo and before you realize it you will have created scar tissue on your tattoo. This will result into a badly healed tattoo.

You can shower with your new tattoo, but be careful with long and very hot showers.

Avoid contact with normal soap and shampoo (only use the unscented soap for your tattoo).

Soaking your tattoo in water has to be avoided during the whole healing process. So no baths, pools and sauna's.

During the healing process of your tattoo you have to avoid the sun! Even after the healing period we recommend to always put SPF 50 sunscreen on your tattoos.

Especially with color tattoos if you want to keep your colors nice and bright throughout the years.
